5 ways to Overcoming Disappointment

Overcoming disappointment

There are many disappointments we face in life. Some that are temporary and some that last a long time. Unresolved disappointment can act as a barrier to receiving the grace of God at such times. This article will loook at 5 ways we can overcome disappointment such as:

expectations not realised
people letting you down
prayers not answered
people not getting healed

So now to the 5 things:

Remember that God always works for good

Firstly, disappointment is a lack of perspective. God always works for good for those who love Him, even when we make mistakes or our disappointments are our own making.

God loves to open doors

Secondly, God is always looking to show us His love in new ways. So if one door closes, another one will open, if we are persistent in asking for His favour.

Overcoming disappointment in not being healed

Thirdly, Mark Marx, of “Healing on the Streets” says that he has made a choice to embrace faith and not unbelief whenever he doesn’t see a healing. He chooses to believe the Word of God and is not put off.

But more than this he says that when he doesn’t see a healing this makes him press into God even more to see these types of healing.

So we need to be the same and press into God for healing.

Changing our reaction to situations

Fourthly, we need to change our reaction to testing situations. Every disappointment should drive us to pray with greater faith for breakthrough because of God’s character and because of His Word.

John 14:13 Jesus said in the context of greater works that,  “I will do whatever you ask in my Name so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.”

This is the expectation that must mark all we do. The promise is in the context of a heart that wants to glorify God. It is because we have a passion to bring glory to the Father. And we can be certain that Jesus will answer because he has a huge desire to glorify his Father.

Choosing to believe the reality of heaven

Fifthly, we need to remember that there is no disappointment in heaven.

Mark Marx chooses to believe that the reality of heaven is greater than the reality of this world and what we see. So he persists to press into God to bring His will from heaven to earth. This is why God says faith believes He is in Hebrews.

As sons and daughters of God we have access to all the resources of heaven. So our focus should be on resting in the Father’s love and asking again for His heavenly resources.

Then in overcoming disappointment or not falling into it, opens the door to access more of God’s infinite resources for His children.
